Tashi Norbu
Tashi Norbu, a Tibetan born in Bhutan in 7th
July, started his training in thangka painting after High School. He chose
to work with one of the most respected teachers of traditional Tibetan
art, venerable Sangey Yeshi. Many of Tashi Norbu’s painting's are in
Australia.
Tashi has worked as a thangka painter for the Private Office of His
Holiness The Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India. He has illustrated several
books, one of them called "Tashi The Tibetan", based on his own childhood,
published by Paljor Publications .
In 2000 Tashi came to live in Belgium where, so far he has had many
exhibitions. For over a year he has worked in the S.M.A.K. (Museum of
Contemporary Art, Ghent) where he has gained more knowledge of western
art.He has studied In Saint Lucas Art university in Ghent Belgium,
followed "Vrije Academie- Arnold Verhé Ghent", "Loods 13", a sculptor’s
collective run by Walter De Buck in Ghent.
 Tashi was chosen 'Artists for Peace' with a Solo exhibition of his
Tibetan Contemporary painting from may 2007 In a Belgian national
programme called "Ten Vrede" where both the Belgian & Tibetan national
artists/musiciens joined in Diksmuide Belgium (The Museum for Peace).
"Het Huis van Alijn" (Museum of Folk Art) director Ms.Sylvie Dhaene has
offered a solo exhibition in the Museum along with a Tibetan programme and sand
mandala creation.
Strasbourg (France) Sep 2006 (European The European Parliament Hall).
Oct 2006 The Tibet Museum of the Dept. of Information and International
Relations hosted Tashi's contemporary art exhibition. Deputy speaker of
the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, Dolma Gyari, was the chief guest at the
opening ceremony of the exhibition. Tashi exhibited in e.g.
"Ticket for Tibet" - 27 august 2006 Eindhoven Nederland.

Presently Tashi is painting in his own studio "Tibet
Atelier"/Gallery, located inside the City at the address: Slachthuistraat
98, Ghent 9000, Belgium. He feels a strong interest in bringing the beauty
of the Tibetan culture in this modern world. May the Tibetan Culture shed
its light on the entire world!

Tashi Norbu
Geboren in Bhutan als kind nadat zijn ouders
vluchtten uit Tibet, groeide Tashi op in de kloosters
van de Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India. Hier werd
al snel zijn schildertalent ontdekt en kreeg hij les
van de beste leraren. Hij kreeg toestemming de
muren van de leslokalen te beschilderen en werkte
enkele jaren voor de Office van de Dalai Lama
als thangkaschilder. Inmiddels is hij uitgegroeid tot
de beste thangkaschilder ter wereld en woont hij
alweer 8 jaar in België waar hij studeerde aan de
kunstacademie om zich te bekwamen in de westerse
kunst. inmiddels verovert hij ook Nederland
en binnenkort Japan met zijn werk en persoonlijkheid.
Doel van de tentoonstellingen:
Het creëren van een traditionele Tibetaanse
mandala, de meest sacrale vorm van Tibetaanse
kunst, om door middel van dit kunstwerk het bewustzijn
over Tibetaanse kunst en cultuur te bevorderen,
en kennis te laten maken met het Tibetaans
Boeddhisme middels Informatie, meditatie en creativiteit.
Het verlenen van steun aan een kleine Tibetaanse “art school” in Dharamsala, India, woonplaats
van de Dalai Lama.
Het vinden van sponsors ter ondersteuning van
Tibetaanse gezinnen in India en Bhutan.
Het brengen van vrede en geluk in de harten van
de bezoekers.
Door het observeren van rituelen en creatieve
uitingen leren om bewust te worden van je eigen
energie, haar te laten stromen en om te vormen tot liefde, mededogen en geestelijke openheid.
