9/10 februari 2008 - HIMALAYA FILMFESTIVAL: Himalayan Spirit Expo - Amstelveen

Opening and Closing Ceremony Rituals of the Himalaya Film Festival
Tashi Norbu 9thfeb: 9:30 am 15 min.
Tashi Norbu  will be doing the ritual for universal peace by reciting mantras and rituals of the bodhisattava of compassion, of whom the Dalai Lama is regarded as the reincarnation.
They will also recite prayers composed by His Holiness the Dalai Lama himself, for bringing peace in this world and especially in Tibet.

The Himalaya Film Festival will be inaugurated with Himalayan rituals and the recitation of Tara mantras; Tara is the most powerful of the Tibetan goddesses during this time of Degeneration (Kalayuga).
During the festival Tashi Norbu will exhibit his paintings as "Himalayan Spirit Expo". He will also demonstrate contemporary Tibetan action painting and traditional Tibetan Kalachakra mandala painting (The Wheel of Time). At the moment, the Kalachakra mandala is the most important mandala in Tibetan Buddhism because of the above-mentioned Degeneration time. Meanwhile His Holiness the Dalai Lama travels all over the world performing Kalachakra initiations. You can see a Kalachakra mandala at the Himalaya Film Festival.

The Tibet Museum of the Department of Information and International Relations will be hosting a contemporary art exhibition from 13 to 22 October 2006. (see also filmclip)

Deputy speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-exile, Dolma Gyari, is the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The exhibition "East Meets West" is organised by Tashi Norbu, a Tibetan painter. He plans to bring some fascinating collection of his paintings through this exhibition. He has been exhibiting his paintings in Belgium and had organised exhibitions around the world.

A documentary film "Closer than Tibet", a film by Ron Chiers depicting the life story of a Tibetan painter who migrated to Europe, will be screened in the evening of 13 October.
